Rebuilding Together Oakland County

RTOC offers Year-Round Community Service Programs...all focusing on providing housing repair to low-income homeowners in Oakland County. With all of our home rehab efforts, we focus on providing energy assistance to our homeowners, such as green housing solutions & home energy efficiency to help the homeowners save money on future energy bills.
Every year on the last Saturday of April, Rebuilding Together Oakland County (RTOC) provides housing repair to low-income homeowners who are elderly, disabled, military veterans, and families with children who are unable to repair and revitalize their homes themselves. Thousands of community volunteers nationwide fix-up the homes and yards of those in need so that they can live in a safer, more comfortable and pleasant environment. Locally we have around 1400 community volunteers who form community development teams to help around 50 homeowners. These community service projects primarily address smaller repairs aimed at making the home safe, warmer, and healthier for the homeowner. However RTOC does have resources such as the Oakland/Livingston Human Services Agency and volunteer contractors who may be able to address larger home rehab issues. |

"Off-Cycle" Community Service Program (Year-Round)
Of course low-income homeowners may need home rehabilitation at other times during the year other than in April, or may live in an area where we currently do not have volunteers available to help. To address this, we do offer housing repair to these homeowners, with a limited number of what we call Off-Cycle projects. |

This community service program is designed to address the occasional single or small number of minor housing repairs that can be done by one or two volunteers in a few hours. For example, a faucet or light fixture replaced. If you are a low-income homeowner (*), you may request this service by calling our office at 248-432-6551. Our staff or volunteer will contact you to make an appointment and a brief application will be filled out at your home with the volunteer. Then the repair may be made that same day. *Note that general qualifications besides low income are that you must own your home, be current on your mortgage & taxes.
